This twisted pepper is a striking and a fiery addition to your garden! We were first introduced to this unique scorcher by the pepper guru, Jim Duffy of Refining Fire Chiles. Its menacing appearance features contorted and wrinkled fruit with a fierce little scythe-shaped tail. According to Jim, this pepper boasts a floral flavor and a ferocious mouth burn that spreads to your tongue, gums, and the roof of your mouth.

Botanic Description:
It's a pepper that's looking gnarly in a good way - the twisted, pocked exterior with brain-like folds brings to mind the 7-Pot Brain Strain, only this one seems like it's been melted and folded by its own capsaicin oils. The length and spiciness may vary, but the stinger tail is always there to warn you of the heat (as if the brain-like texture wasn't obvious enough).
One of the most distinctive features of the Death Spiral pepper plant is its ever-changing color scheme. Each fruit varies in shades of green, peach, orange, and red, with some stopping in between. This results in a playful mix of colors, from peachy tones to bold reds, adding a touch of uniqueness to each chili.
About The Heat!
Naturally, when compared to our trusted jalapeño benchmark, there's no competition on the hotness spectrum. Jalapeños typically have a heat level of 2,500 to 8,000 SHU. With a median heat of 1,400,000 SHU, the Death Spiral pepper registers at a scorching 175 to 560 times spicier than a jalapeño.
Take note: The spiciness of these peppers is no joke, so handle with caution. Keep your skin safe by using gloves, kitchen glasses, and other protective measures to avoid contact with the pepper's oils.
